Qualifications::
Candidate must have proven experience in a direct hunting sales role. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to identify, qualify and generate new business. A qualified candidate will have 1-3 years of solid, B2B sales experience preferably in the technology arena. Experienced and professional communication skills both oral and written are a must. The Regional Account Manager III position is a senior level sales position. The position requires prospecting and cold calling in North America to NetCentric customers, such as web hosting companies, universities, ISPs, video gaming companies, etc., with the goal to meet and exceed established revenue objectives. Candidate will direct call on new customers and analyze client needs relative to Internet connectivity over our unique, in building, Fiber Optic infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 3-5 years of quantifiable, successful telecommunications sales experience in a wholesale environment. CST Engineer - 3rd shift
MISSION
Monitoring and management of the Pan-European and North American Cogent customer base. Work to maintain the service level and established standards and procedures as well as provide customer support. Multi-lingual is a strong plus.
JOB DUTIES
Monitoring Global Customer connections, email requests, and phone inquiries
Working in a call center answering phones in order provide top level technical support to Cogent’s customers Globally.
Manage and maintain documentation of all troubleshooting process for all the incidents impacting customers including a description of the actions taken for their solution.
Customer care. Providing the customer with information and updating of the incidents that occur on their services
Execution and management of the customers issues as well as completing new services provisioning according to the Plan developed by the CST Manager
Reporting on the Global Shift performance as well as on the handover after each shift.
Collaboration with Field Technicians in all activities related to customer service delivery (installation, integration, test, etc…).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Availability to work on shifts under a 24x7 basis. (Flexibility a MUST)
Technical background
IP Networking knowledge
Knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, IGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS…), IP addressing, DNS’s and IP-VPN’s
Knowledge of transmission networks based on SDH and DWDM Nortel Networks equipment together with the Preside management system will be taken into account. (plus)

This position is responsible for leading a direct sales team of 8 to 10 Regional Account Managers. The Sales Manager will develop and execute a Sales Strategy to meet the assigned revenue quota. Direct customer contact will comprise a major portion of this assignment.

Drive, meet and exceed sales revenue and productivity objectives.
Manage and utilize pipeline management for each sales reps.

Candidate must have proven experience in finding new business. Candidates should have 7-10 years of experience in selling Telecom/Technology products with 3 years in Sales management, successful B2B direct telecommunications sales experience in a fast-paced, competitive data/telecommunications OR IT selling environment. A track record of success and recent experience in this environment is required. A college degree is preferred. Proficiency with PC based applications such as Word, Excel and Siebel a plus. Some travel will be required.
Cogent Communications’ core hours are from 8:30A-5:30PM. Managers maybe required to stay on or before said time.
Logistics Assistant
Position Purpose Summary:
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for the accurate storing and receiving of goods and the counting, picking and loading of goods as designated on orders in, within, on the grounds of, or out of the distribution center. Additionally, the Logistics Assistant is responsible to proactively monitor reports, process inventory data updates, assist other members of Cogent Communications with inventory and shipment issues, and perform other duties as assigned by the Logistics Manager. Applicants should possess an average skill level in PC applications and email use, in addition to familiarity with MS Excel.
Position Requirements:
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Maintain proficiency in the Inventory Shipping and Receiving (ISR) system
Unload, sort, verify, stock, segregate, pick, reserve, replenish, pack, count and load merchandise as designated on orders.
Monitor inbound and outbound shipments, and provide basic communication and escalation with Cogent Communications’ vendors
Accurate and timely processing of reports and paperwork associated with the various procedures and duties.
Know, follow and perform to the maximum levels of quality and productivity standards.
Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories as required.
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other basic warehouse equipment
Lift 70 pounds
Routinely corresponds with vendors and parties within Cogent via email, and telephone in the execution of role assignments
Serves as a point of contact for emergency shipping and receiving, including after-hour and weekend on-call assignments
Understand and apply a working knowledge of shipping regulations, customs and duties requirements, and other related concepts
Utilize the various shipping vendors of Cogent Communications as outlined by the direction of Logistics policies in order to complete shipping requests

NOC Tools Manager
Responsibilities:
Manage the requirements, development and implementation of the ticketing, workflow and monitoring tools to support a 24x7 Network Operations Center.
Act as Operations Liaison to IS for changes, upgrades and implementation of Operations systems
Determine and define in requirements for an optimal view of Global Monitoring Systems in terms of platform, alarm suppression and correlation. Develop a comprehensive plan for network awareness as part of this effort
Write requirements for GUI interfaces to the Operations monitoring systems such as Netcool and CTM
Define, manage, and maintain data sources and develop scripts to extract meaningful data from Remedy and other tracking systems to support day to day needs as well as reporting
Work with CST and NOC personnel to compose requirements for enhancements to tools such as Remedy and internally created tools
Look for opportunities for tool enhancements to support existing processes and recommend improvements to tools and/or processes
Look to improve NOC and CST access to documentationManage the entire cycle of concept all of the way to training and documentation on new Operations tools
Qualifications:
Seasoned network operations leader with strong, hands-on technical skills.
High-energy, hands-on project manager with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Proven ability to generate scripts ranging from alarm suppression to data mining. Previous experience with Unix operating systems is desired
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills required: Ability to identify and analyze NOC tools needs to improve network quality and operational processes and then drive development
Technical expertise: Strong working knowledge of IP, including IP network architecture, routing protocols, peering, BGP and DNS is required. Working knowledge of Layer 1 optical transport networks and equipment and experience is a plus
Supplier management: Knowledge of Commercially Off the Shelf (COTS) network tools and available network freeware

Data Center Engineer - Chicago, IL
Overview:
Cogent Communications is seeking an enthusiastic professional for the “Datacenter Operations Manager” position. As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will provide day-to-day oversight and management of Cogent Communications-operated data center facilities in Chicago (4) and others in the Mid-West area.
You will act as the interface between teams at Cogent Communications, customers, and contractors; Applicant’s main goal is to provide excellent service to Cogent’s datacenter customers. The applicant is responsible for every facet of the colocation.
Seeking an energetic individual who must possess excellent organizational skills to project manage all sites responsible for, as each datacenter in Chicago area brings different systems, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the ongoing operation of the data centers.
Work on special projects when they arise (past projects- HVAC Augmentation, UPS Augmentation)
An essential aspect of the job is to work with and manage contractors who will work within the facility, such as HVAC, Fire system, and Generator vendors. From billing issues to submitting purchase order requests, all contractor work in the Chicago facilities will be managed by he/she.
Provision Work Orders (cabinets, cross connects, install/test circuits, power, etc.)
Work outside of the box with team members to improve efficiency and implement new data center strategies.
Provide Sales with all requested datacenter information, including requests needed for potential colo orders.
Work Remedy Tickets (For Access, Environmental Issues, etc.)
Maintain DCDB (Cabinet/Rack inventory)
Generate PO requests for PMs & repair work,
Maintaining and regular auditing of databases like HandNet and DCDB.
Organize NMPs for maintenance and repair work
Requirements:
Applicant has to have experience in telecommunication industry specifically Datacenter Operations.
Position is for 24/7 Engineer; will work a regular 9 to 5 shift but has to be available to emergency response re: customer or equipment issues, etc. Also needs to be able to move schedule around for off-business hour maintenances, customer hot-cuts, etc.
Willingness to Travel; up to 25% may be required.
Degree in an appropriate technical field or equivalent experience.
Person must be able to multi-task and project manage daily operations
He/She must have a knowledge of cabling and basic internet processes, as they will be required to perform various types of work orders, from 100meg orders and fiber x-connects to rack installations.
A very good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a Data Center environment.
A great attitude with internal customers and external parties, and address any issues.
Previous management and project management experience.
Able to perform physical tasks; lift 75lbs, climb a Ladder, remove equipment, etc.
Network Planning Engineer - Washington, DC
Responsibilities:
Create and update engineering drawings, maps, and databases.
Evaluate and approve simple service orders requiring minimal engineering to provision.
Learn Cogent network architecture and various types of optical transport equipment.
Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and Statement of Work (SOW) for simple network augmentation projects, based on high-level outline from Director or Senior Engineers.
Assist with various other engineering-related activities as needed.
Expected to grow and take on additional and more advanced network planning tasks within two years.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Physics
Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills

Sr. Network Planning Engineer - Washington, DC
Responsibilities:
Planning and engineering of CWDM and DWDM GigE and 10GE optical transport networks in major metropolitan areas in North America and Europe to provide high capacity Ethernet (Layer2) and IP transit (Layer 3) services.
Planning and engineering of 10GE and 40GE inter-city backbone transport systems.
Evaluate and approve service orders and determine network augmentation requirements.
Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and Statement of Work (SOW) for complex network augmentation and expansion projects.
Provide “third tier” engineering support to network operations and field engineering teams to troubleshoot optical network issues.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience
At least 3 years experience in optical transport network design and engineering involving CWDM and DWDM equipment and transporting GigE and 10GE
Experience with optical fiber measurements and troubleshooting (OTDR, OSA, power measurements, etc.) is highly desirable
Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with others on a team
